  23.     Well, sorry for those who have expected a really brilliant Readme in
  24.     perfect English. After all, I was just too lazy to layout this file
  25.     and/or correct all spelling mistakes.
  26.  
  27.     What's new with our graphics? Well, unlike other productions, our
  28.     graphics aren't just cheap alternations of the original graphics, we
  29.     invested some more work in it. Doom Graphics V0.9 features *REALLY*
  30.     new graphics and *DIGITIZED* actors. So, install and enjoy (hopefully).
  31.      
  32.     But why is it version 0.9? Well, perhabs you wouldn't have noticed but
  33.     the Troopers (The guyz now wearing Leathers) don't bleed when you shoot
  34.     them. We'll change that in a future release which will come in the very
  35.     near future. We just had to come out with a working version, because
  36.     by now there's quite a bunch of lame "new" graphics (You know, people
  37.     having altered the original figures a little and then call it "new"..)
  38.  
  39.     Anyway, this version SHOULD work, even with DOOM 1.1. It worked all right
  40.     with DOOM 1.2, although Doom Sound Editors or similar things might not
  41.     work any more, so better back up your original DOOM.WAD. Since you're
  42.     backing up already, back up all *.PPM-Files, too because they'll get
  43.     deleted...

  45.     Oh, by the way, version 0.9 is free, so if anyone tries to sell this
  46.     file, kick him and download it from a BBS...

  52. How to install/deinstall our graphics
  53. -------------------------------------
  54.  
  55.     First of all, you'll have to unzip the CTSDMG09.ZIP archive. This is
  56.     quite a silly comment, because you've already done that, else you
  57.     wouldn't be reading this file... ;-)
  58.  
  59.     After extracting, you'll find the following files (Hope I didn't forget
  60.     anything.. ;-)
  61.  
  62.                 CTSDMG09.ZIP   Spread this as wide as you can!
  63.                 README  .CTS   The file you're actually reading
  64.                 PKZIP   .EXE   The well-known compression tool
  65.                 PKUNZIP .EXE   and it's decompression companion.
  66.                 DMGRAPH .EXE   THE Utility to change DOOM Graphics
  67.                 INSTALL .BAT   Obviously, this INSTALLS the graphics
  68.                 DEINSTAL.BAT   and this DE-INSTALLS them... Wow!
  69.                 POSS    .DMG   This one holds our Trooper
  70.                 SPOS    .DMG   And that one our Sarge
  71.                 FILE_ID .DIZ   Read this and you know what's in the ZIP

  73.     Hope I didn't forget anything. There might me other junk added by various
  74.     BBSs which feel like they have to add their own stuff....
  75.  
  76.     PKZIP/PKUNZIP is included only for those people who don't have it yet and
  77.     I'd like to encourage you to download the entire package from a BBS near
  78.     you.
  79.  
  80.     But let's get started... Just copy all the above files into your DOOM
  81.     directory, make a backup of your DOOM.WAD and then simply run INSTALL.BAT.
  82.     If you already have PKZIP/UNZIP, please make shure that they really ARE 
  83.     named "PKZIP" and "PKUNZIP" and that they are version 2.04g or higher.

  85.     Install will now run quite a while. It backs up the original Trooper/Sarge
  86.     and then installs our new graphics. Remember that this change is permanent.
  87.     There's no need to run INSTALL each time you run DOOM. If you'd like to
  88.     play with the original graphics, run DEINSTAL, which will write them back.
  89.     It's that simple! Oh, by the way: INSTALL creates POSSORG.ZIP and SPOSORG.ZIP
  90.     which actually contain your original figures, so don't delete them!

  92.     Yup, that's it. Watch out for new releases! We'll change even more graphics
  93.     and we'll be delivering our own levels!
